Morocco, welcome! An Intrepid representative will meet you at Casablanca Airport and transfer you to your hotel. The adventure begins at 6 p.m. with a welcome meeting. The Villa des Arts is a wonderful option for those who arrive in Casablanca with plenty of time. The stunning Art Deco gallery hosts many exhibitions of international and contemporary Moroccan art. The Museum of Judaism offers a fascinating and unique experience in cultural experiences. Enjoy a delicious banquet-style meal with your group in the courtyard of a beautiful riad to celebrate the start of a new adventure. Moroccan cuisine is a major part of its cultural heritage. Tonight, you can try traditional Moroccan dishes such as tagine and couscous.
We will need to collect your insurance details and information about next of kin at the meeting. It is very important that everyone attends. Please let the hotel reception or your travel agent know if you will be arriving late. For more information about the location of the meeting, ask reception or find a note in lobby. We need to know your flight details at least 14 days before we can arrange airport collection.
Today you’ll visit the majestic Mosque of Hassan II, one of Casablanca’s most iconic sites. The Mosque of Hassan II is second in size only to Mecca’s great mosque. It sits on both land and over the sea and is the only open-to-all religious site here. You can then drive to Meknes from Casablanca, and explore the beautiful streets of Medina, the old walled area of the city. It’s a unique experience to see this less-known medina while the locals go about their day.
Continue onward to the Roman ruins of Volubilis that are dotted with mosaics. A local guide will take you around the area and help you picture the bustling city once it was. A picnic lunch with fresh bread, cheese, seasonal fruits, and olives from the local market is available. Continue to Fes in the afternoon for your next two nights.

Today, you will discover Fes’s massive, well-preserved medieval city. It is the mother of all medinas. As your guide takes you through the narrow streets and alleyways, walk past donkeys loaded with goods and discover the speciality sections of the souk. It’s easy to picture yourself in the Middle Ages as you pass historic khans and dye-pits. There are also stalls filled with fragrant herbs and spices. You can explore the city by visiting the beautiful inner courtyards of the centuries-old Islamic school El-Attarine Madrasa or Funduq al-Najjarin. This is a magnificent 18th-century hotel.
You are in for a surprise as you are welcomed into the home and served pastilla dinner by a local family. As you talk with your hosts about Fes, learn how to make the famous Moroccan pie.
You can travel from Fes to Bin el-Ouidane with many stops along the way to enjoy the changing Moroccan landscape. For a memorable experience, visit an Amazigh family (Berber) in the Khenifra area for a unique insight into their way of living. The family will show you how to make mint tea, and they will prepare a delicious home-cooked meal using local ingredients. You will learn about their traditions, customs and how life is in the Atlas Mountains. You’ll later arrive at Bin el-Ouidane. This small settlement is perfectly situated on the banks of the lake and surrounded by sheer rock faces. The Feature Stay accommodation is perched at the edge of the enormous, sparkling lake, at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. You can spend a relaxing afternoon floating in the idyllic swimming pool, or taking in the stunning views from the terrace.

Today, you’ll be heading out on the water and hopping into a speedboat so that you can see more of the turquoise lakes and the surrounding rocky gorges. You can cool off by taking a dip in the calm waters or just enjoying the beautiful views. Before returning to the hotel, you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch in a shaded spot with a view of the lake. You can spend the rest of the day as you please. Enjoy a relaxing massage at the spa or a jacuzzi session at the hotel’s health spa.
Today, you’ll travel from Bin el-Ouidane towards Marrakech. You don’t need to rush, the scenery is always fascinating and there will be a stop at the Ouzoud Falls. Arriving in Marrakech, you will be taken to Djemaa El-Fna Square, which is the city’s most famous landmark and one of the biggest public spaces in the entire world. To get to know the vibrant city, join your Trip Leader for an orientation tour. The square becomes a hub of activity as the day turns to night. Explore the evening. You might choose to have dinner on the balcony of one of the restaurants overlooking the bustling square and the Koutoubia Mosque.

Meet your guide today for breakfast and a tour of the Old Medina. This will take you through the souks, which are the heartbeat of the city. You will find tranquil courtyards filled in orange blossom scent and many chambers and salons within Bahia Palace. The Koutoubia Mosque is only for Muslims, but the famous minaret makes it a must-see. Continue on through the streets of Djemaa El-Fna’s old medina. You can only really enjoy the food in this area if you are a local. Your local guide will take your to a special tasting session, where you can try some seasonal delights like freshly squeezed orange juice or fried Moroccan donuts. You can explore the rest of your day at your own pace. You can visit Le Jardin Secret, an old medina garden that has a beautiful courtyard, or go back to the medina to practice your haggling skills. Perhaps you’d like to join your group for a farewell dinner. Your leader can recommend great local restaurants worth a toast.
You will spend the next two night in Essaouira where the medina meets the Atlantic Ocean. You will get to know this relaxed and charming city by taking an orientation walk with your guide. They will show you how to navigate the maze of markets stalls and narrow streets and give insights into local life in North Africa. Explore the fish market, a port full of colourful boats. You will pick your catch of the day, and then take it to a local restaurant. Follow their example and hand over the market purchase to have it grilled to make the best of fresh food. You will be taken by your leader to the fresh vegetable markets, where you can choose your vegetables and salads to go with your seafood lunch. Enjoy a delicious meal with your group. You are free to explore Essaouira in the evening.
This is a combination trip so the group leaders and travellers will likely change. Your leader will inform you on Day 7 when you depart for Essaouira, and what you can expect from this portion of your trip. They are available to answer your questions and ensure that you have a smooth departure. Driving time today is approximately 2.5 hours.
Essaouira is a name that means image. This is fitting for this picturesque town. The town is home to a large number of British and Jewish residents. Its charm attracted people such as Jimi Hendrix and Orson Welles, who, according to local legend, spent much time here in 1960s. You are invited to spend a day exploring the charming streets of sandstone, before heading to the cart-haulers who call ‘ballak ballak’. Your guide will give you advice on how to spend your day. You might ride horseback along Essaouira’s stunning coast and golden sand dunes. The Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdallah Museum houses a collection of artifacts, woodwork and carpets. Or you can just watch the kitesurfers ride the crashing waves. A cooking class is available in Morocco. You can also explore the surrounding area on a day trip.
You are free to explore the area throughout the morning. You can pick up handicrafts from the market stalls or have a last coffee on the square. This Moroccan town has a European twist and is easy to enjoy. Drive back to Marrakech in the afternoon. After you’ve settled into your hotel, you’ll likely be drawn back towards the Djemaa el-Fna and its surrounding medina. You can end your adventure by eating at one of the outdoor restaurants that line the square.

After breakfast, your trip is over. You can leave anytime, and check-out is generally at midday. You will be notified of the time for pick-up if you have booked a private airport transfer.
