8 days
Age 12+
Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep
Availability 50

Although Morocco may be associated with big deserts and large markets, there is so much more to this country in north-western Africa. Enjoy an eight-day trip to Morocco’s most vibrant spots. You’ll also have time to visit some of the country’s top beaches and maybe even catch a wave or two along the way. Taghazout attracts Moroccan surfers, and other coastal towns such as Essaouira make it a great place to relax and soak up the sun-filled, cultural vibes. The Atlas Mountains are a drawcard. They are beautiful, friendly, and offer a variety of cuisines. We will take you on a tour of Morocco’s most treasured secrets, including the stunning mountain villages and the cool beach-side towns.

This trip is a must-see

  • Enjoy traditional Moroccan accommodation such as a stay in a mountain home (gite) run by a family in the Atlas Mountains.
  • Relaxing yoga lessons along the coast of South Morocco are an unforgettable highlight of the adventure. Start with a class and then use the same balance maneuvers on a Taghazout surfboard.
  • Essaouira is a “little picture” that you should get to know. It’s the city of the Wind, which draws all kinds of artists to it thanks to its culture.
  • Enjoy Djemaa el-Fna’s full glory together with your group with an included street food experience. Marrakech’s authentic Morocco is available to you if you eat where locals do.
  • You can practice your haggling skills and rub shoulders with locals to pick up beautiful traditional pieces in the labyrinthine market stalls or cobblestone laneways of the local medinas.

Important notes

1. You can make the locals feel good about you by not taking photos of the holy and most revered people. Always ask permission to take photos of people. They may not agree. Cover your shoulders, knees, and hair, even if it is hot. Do not shake hands with anyone or eat with the left hand. This is the hand you use to wipe your bottom.
2. If you don’t want to share a room, a single supplement is available. You will not be able to use shared accommodation on Day 2 (Mountain Gite), or Days 3,4 (Surf Camp). There are a limited number of single supplement options available for each trip departure. For more information on single supplements and availability, please contact your booking agent.
3. In the culture of Moroccan tourism, it is common to receive kickbacks or commissions for recommending certain shops, services, or activities. Intrepid created a system that allows you to select the most enjoyable shopping experiences and activities, based on feedback from previous travelers. This is in an effort to monitor and control shopping and activities. These activities may be included in included walking tours, or free of charge. If you don’t feel like shopping, we will let you know. Your group leader will work with you to find a substitute.
Intrepid has set up a central system for receiving payments from these recommended vendors. These funds are then distributed to local Responsible Travel projects (such’say no plastic’ cotton bags and drinking water refilling stations), traveler information packets, and leader bonuses. Your group leader can provide more information about these arrangements upon request.
Intrepid will do everything possible to ensure these suppliers and services are of reasonable quality. However, Intrepid recommends suppliers based on past travellers feedback and experiences. Intrepid cannot guarantee the quality of the product. The fund’s goal is to ensure that you, the traveler, have a great experience. If we have achieved this goal, please let us know by leaving feedback after your trip.
